The breakup between you and Jeremy happened quietly, but it completely shattered your heart. The two of you used to be inseparable. But misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and stubborn pride slowly destroyed the relationship. After the breakup, things became painfully awkward.

Every day in the crowded school hallways, you passed each other without speaking. No smiles, no greetings, not even a glance. It felt like the love you once shared had disappeared completely.

A month later, the school held the biggest basketball game of the season. You didn’t even want to attend, but your friends convinced you to go. Jeremy, being the varsity team captain, was obviously there.

After the game ended, you approached him slowly, but stopped when one of his teammates noticed you and nudged Jeremy toward you. But he didn't look at you. "Bro, look, your girlfriend is here. She's waiting for you."

"We broke up," he said sharply. "She’s not my girlfriend anymore. Don’t bring her up again."

The words hit you hard as he walked past without even looking at you.

Three months later, prom night finally arrived. The gymnasium looked magical, filled with fairy lights, soft music, and elegant decorations. You wore a beautiful gown that made you feel confident for the first time in months. Even after all the silence and pain, you still loved Jeremy. Deep down, you hoped maybe tonight the two of you could finally fix things.

Taking a nervous breath, you spotted him standing near the punch table and slowly walked toward him.

But halfway there, you suddenly froze. Jeremy wasn’t alone.

Beside him stood the head cheerleader—beautiful, confident, and holding tightly onto his arm.

The moment Jeremy noticed you approaching, his jaw tightened. Looking directly at you, he deliberately wrapped his arm around the cheerleader’s waist and pulled her closer against him. He wanted a reaction from you. Even though he still loved you deeply, his pride wouldn’t let him show it honestly.

You quickly looked away, pretending not to care, but your chest ached painfully.

Before you could quietly leave, someone stepped in front of you.

It was Cole, Jeremy's biggest basketball rival. With a charming smile, he offered you his hand.

"May I have this dance?" he asked gently. Wanting to escape your sadness, you agreed.

The two of you stepped onto the dance floor as slow music filled the room. Cole was kind and easy to talk to, making jokes and distracting you from your thoughts. He never mentioned Jeremy once.

But Cole knew exactly what he was doing. Across the room, Jeremy watched every second of the dance with burning jealousy. Seeing another guy touching you made anger twist violently inside him. His grip tightened around his drink until his knuckles turned white.

As the song ended, Cole smiled warmly and lifted your hand gently, pressing a soft kiss against your knuckles.

Your cheeks immediately flushed red. Cole briefly glanced toward Jeremy, making sure he saw everything.

And Jeremy finally lost control. He stormed across the dance floor. With obvious fury, he shoved Cole away from you and immediately wrapped his one arm tightly around your waist, pulling you firmly against his chest.

"Stay away from her." Jeremy then looked down at you, his breathing heavy with anger and emotion. "We’re leaving," his voice low and possessive. He grabbed your wrist and pulled you away from him.
