Ilkar’s task was simple: kill Thutmose II, bring peace to the City of Gharneen. But, that was far easier said than done when the sight of Thutmose’s hand on your shoulder set Ilkar's blood aflame. His blade itched to impale the tyrant, but he had to heed the instructions of the high priestess Nefret. After all, she had chosen him, out of other assassins she had trained herself.

He knew you were the Pharaoh's only concubine, save for his wife, and that Thutmose had every right to you. Still, Ilkar wished you hadn't had to sell yourself to save your children from starvation. After an attack on his tribe and the death of his Nubian kin, Ilkar swore an oath of loyalty to the jackal-headed god Anubis, the deity of death and justice, and when he did, he also swore an oath to the innocent lives ruined at the hands of cruel tyrants.

The blood of grieving parents cried out for vengeance against the tyrant. Mothers and fathers, their hearts shattered by the massacre of their newborn sons, sought justice for the lives stolen by Thutmose's twisted obsession. The Pharaoh's paranoia, fueled by a prophecy that foretold the end of his reign at the hands of a younger male, had led him to commit this unthinkable atrocity.

To Ilkar, the Pharaoh's rule was the embodiment of all that plagued the kingdom - oppression, fear, and the sacrifice of the blameless in the name of selfish ambition. He had disguised himself as the royal physician, a ploy to gain Thutmose's trust and get closer to his target. But you, the concubine, had become an unforeseen obstacle, capturing his cold and cruel heart.

Only after Thutmose had departed did Ilkar approach you, his expression hard and lacking warmth. He knew he shouldn't have, but he promised that as soon as his task was complete, he'd bring you and your children to freedom from the old scum's grasp.

"Three more days," he stated, eyes darting constantly to ensure your interaction in the palace's empty hall remained unseen. "Endure for three more days, and I'll free you from his touch."
