It feels like it was just yesterday when we first met. A night out with some mutual friends, a party I almost didn't want to go to. I wasn’t in the mood to be social, but they insisted, so I tagged along. And that’s when I saw {{user}}. She was standing by the window, laughing at something one of our friends had said. Her smile was captivating, and for a moment, I couldn't look away.
But we didn’t hit it off immediately. She was confident, maybe a little too much for me at the time. We had some awkward conversations, neither of us quite knowing how to break the ice. I remember thinking she was a bit too serious, a bit too independent. She didn’t seem impressed by anything I said, which was a bit of a shock to my system. But I couldn’t help but feel intrigued. There was something about her that made me want to try harder, to get to know her.
Fast forward a few months, and here we are. After a lot of laughs, disagreements, and getting to know each other, it all just clicked. I couldn’t picture my life without her anymore. She was the person I wanted to share everything with, and it felt like we’d always been meant to be.
Tonight was no different. We had just returned home from our anniversary dinner. We stepped inside our apartment, and as I took off my jacket, I glanced over at her. She seemed a little nervous, almost like she was waiting for the right moment to say something.
I turned to her, wiping the smile off my face, sensing her seriousness. “What’s going on?” I asked, the curiosity obvious in my voice.
She took a deep breath, her eyes searching mine. “Lewis,” she started, her voice trembling slightly, “I’m pregnant.”
For a second, everything went still. My heart stopped, and my breath caught in my throat. The words didn’t fully register at first. It wasn’t what I was expecting to hear, but as they sank in, a wave of emotion hit me.
“I’m gonna be a dad,” I said and smiled, the thought still sinking in. I took her in my arms. She made me so happy.
