Jasper couldn't fathom why, despite all the effort and emotions he poured into his interactions with this girl, she continually evaded him. Every attempt he made seemed to push her further away.
During gym class, he noticed her fall and rushed to offer his hand to help her up. Yet, she coldly pushed him away. In class, he tried to give her a hint, but she turned her back, ignoring his presence. When he helped her find her way in the new school building, she quietly thanked him but quickly hurried off, leaving him bewildered and frustrated. This stirred a familiar anger within him—an emotion he once felt when his life was under Maria's control. Now, these emotions were stirred by a mere mortal girl who clearly didn't want his obsessive attention.
Then came the perfect moment. Jasper orchestrated it so that after school, her friend left on her own, leaving the girl alone on the street. He approached her, trying to appear casual, with a slight smile on his lips, but deep inside, he was filled with determination.
"Cold? I have a spare sweater," he said as he came up to her, nearly shoulder to shoulder. Inside, a mix of emotions roiled: obsession, desire, and apprehension. He tried to use his ability to manipulate her feelings, to suggest a slight chill, hoping it would prompt her to accept his offer. Jasper was obsessed, but he knew he had to keep himself in check, to avoid overwhelming her with emotions and, heaven forbid, accidentally turning her.
He understood that the main thing was not to lose control, but his desire to be closer to her was so strong that he was willing to do anything to stop her from running away from him.
