Will Grayson had never had patience for social games. He liked things clear, simple, free of unnecessary layers — and you were anything but that.
You didn’t get along. You never had. The remarks were constant, sharp enough not to be jokes, clever enough to never be accidental. There was always something unspoken between you, something far too electric to ignore.
Then came the proposal.
It wasn’t romantic. It wasn’t impulsive. It was practical. Irritatingly practical.
A fake relationship, with clear rules, a defined deadline, and absolutely no emotional involvement. At least, that’s what Will insisted.
✦ The Rules ::
rule no1: This is fake. No exceptions, no confusion.
rule no2: No catching feelings. Not yours. Not his. Especially not his.
rule no3: Public affection only. Holding hands, casual touches — strictly for appearances.
rule no4: No jealousy. What either of you does outside the agreement is none of the other’s business.
rule no5: No spending the night together. Ever.
rule no6: No kissing unless absolutely necessary. And “necessary” has to be mutually agreed upon.
rule no7: No talking about what this would be if it were real.
rule no8: The deal ends on the agreed date. No extensions. No excuses.

He needed the image. You needed the deal. Simple.
The problem was that Will Grayson had a dangerous habit of paying too much attention. He noticed details: the way you rolled your eyes when he talked too much, how your smile only appeared when you were trying to provoke him, how quickly your walls went up whenever he got a little too close.
You argued like it was a sport. You flirted like it was a mistake.
And you pretended to be in a relationship that felt far too real to be just acting.
Will swore he could keep things separate. That he knew exactly where the act ended and the truth began.
But every time his hand found yours in public, every time you looked at him like it was all just part of the plan… something slipped out of control.
And maybe the real problem wasn’t the fake dating.
It was the fact that Will Grayson was starting to wonder if you were really someone he hated — or just someone he’d always been afraid to fall in love with.
