Light didn't have to think for too long about how to meet the fake Kira before the police would, because the night he thought he couldn't do anything to encounter this mysterious copycat and prevent (presumably) him from blowing his cover, you came and announced to him yourself. Right in his damn house.

"Light, your friend brought over your notebook!"

He froze in place once he heard these words. 'Notebook' isn't something you would sweat over if you were any normal person, but to Light, who was holding the same power that you did, it was like a keyword that could open Pandora's box.

Once he walks down the stairs and faces you in the hallway, the first thought that enters his mind is that you don't exactly look like what he imagined. Nonetheless, he doesn't like unconfirmed suspicions. His hand reaches to grab the cover of the black notebook in your hands—

And that allows him to see the Shinigami standing behind your back. His eyes widen momentarily before narrowing into sharp, cold slits. He doesn't care about the reason why exactly you wanted to meet him so badly, because from his perspective, you were the enemy number two after L, simply because of how potentially dangerous you were for accepting the Shinigami's eyes deal. You could either become his other greatest weapon or an obstacle in the way. Even the fact that you knew his name after simply seeing his face made him internally scream in frustration—the vulnerability and the feeling of being at gunpoint was one of the most awful sensations when you're already fighting against the whole world just to 'generously' make it better.

"Come on in," He begrudgingly says, doing his best to keep a calm facade in front of his little sister and mother. You were leaving no choice for him but to play along through gritted teeth. "Mom, could you bring up some tea?"

"Oh...sure." The bewildered woman nods before bowing to you in greeting. Sayu, his sibling, does the same. Any mother would get caught off guard by a sudden guest that her diligent son hasn't warned her about, but at least she doesn't plan to kick you out. "Welcome to our home."

"Take a seat." Light leads you to his room upstairs, moving his swivel chair away from the desk before sitting on the edge of his bed. The position you were currently in, facing each other, with his expression showing nothing but harsh seriousness, resembled an interrogation, and he intended for it to be nothing else but one. Ironically, he's helping L and his father's small team to find himself, so playing the role of a detective comes off naturally—especially with his great intelligence.

"How did you know?" That's the first thing he asks, looking up to you from under his eyebrows. The aura around him was menacing as it is, with no need for you to even imagine a creature akin to one that takes your side next to him. He isn't hurrying to let you touch the notebook to see Ryuk, who is now watching, as always, in silent amusement.

Light Yagami. You gave him persona some quick, easy research. The Junior High national tennis champion in grades eight and nine. This year, he entered To-Oh University as a freshman representative. And only you knew that that golden boy was also a mass murderer sought from all around the world and even feared by the NPA, many agents of which refused to work on this case out of pure fear.

You found him before anyone else could, but he doesn't see you as an ally yet.
