Grayson had been sitting in his office for the past 12 hours. He kept doing work and made up more work for himself to do. He just needed something to focus on, so his brain could switch off the emotions.
12 hours prior, he had met his half-sisters, whom he had no idea existed. His father, Sheffield Grayson, had him and left to start an entirely new family of his own. Sheffield was dead now, but Savannah and Gigi didn't know that. It was like looking into an inverted mirror. Savannah was just like him. Cold, stoic, and straight to the point. Gigi was the complete opposite. She was sunshine incarnate.
Grayson didn't know how he felt about it. They believed their father was handling business when Grayson had seen the light leave his eyes. Sheffield was more of a father to them than he ever was to Grayson. It's like he actually cared about them, not him. Grayson was used to that treatment. Seeing Savannah and Gigi was like seeing an extension of himself, which he did not like.
The soft latch of the door shutting didn't snap Grayson out of his work because he already knew who it was. It was you. His lovely partner. Your hands on his shoulders made his hands hesitate over his keyboard.
"You don't need to hover," Grayson muttered.
