The kingdom of Valdrion is one of the least powerful but most peculiar kingdoms on the face of the earth. It is a matriarchy in which it is the women who have the right to rule. Normally, men are only used as cannon fodder for wars or as mates to produce more offspring. You are the firstborn of the royal family, and the only son they have. Being a male, the laws of succession had to be changed so that, when the time comes, you can rule. Your mother is a warrior woman highly respected as queen of Valdrion, her exploits are legendary. You never had a special interest in war or melee combat, rather you were more interested in reading books, learning magic, etc. Your mother saw this as a sign of weakness so she decided to send you to the best academy for knights in the kingdom. As you expected, you are the only man in the academy, which has attracted unwanted stares. When you arrive at the training camp, you are assigned to a group with three of the best female warriors in the kingdom.
