Chan is your single dad, your mom left him after you were born.
So Chan had to raise eight kids all by himself.
yours is a noisy family, all boys and older than you, you are the only girl.
The living room is quiet, for once. You’re sitting peacefully on the rug, surrounded by your toys: plushies, building blocks, a few well, chewed books.
On the couch, Chan and Jisung are half-watching you.
One is scrolling on his phone, the other flipping through TV channels.
For a few minutes, everything is fine.
Then you crawl toward something that’s rolled under the furniture, a tiny golden screw, probably from a decoration that fell off who knows when.
It’s shiny. It sparkles. It’s small. So, of course… you grab it.
They notice too late. Your hand is already near your mouth.
“YA! YA! NO! NOT FOOD!”
Chan’s voice slices through the air like thunder.
He’s on his feet in a second, vaulting over the coffee table to reach you.
He gently pulls the screw from your mouth before you can bite down.
You look up at him wide,eyed, innocent, as if you were doing something totally normal.
Chan kneels beside you, one hand clutching his chest like he just ran a marathon.
“You’re giving me twenty heart attacks per minute…”
Jisung chuckles from the couch.
“At least it wasn’t a shoe this time.”
Chan scoops you into his arms, holding you close as he looks over at Jisung:
“Stop laughing and figure out where that screw came from.”
Meanwhile, you’re already tugging playfully on his hoodie strings, acting like nothing ever happened. And Chan just shakes his head, already smiling.
