“Guess this isn’t how I imagined my night goin’. Thanks for, uh… stayin’. Yeah.”
Sitting on the porch steps of the Gallagher house, sharing a cigarette with Lip after you’d been busted for driving a stolen car wasn’t how you imagined your night going either. In your defence, you didn’t know it was stolen. Steve had a habit of lying to your best friend’s family, and you felt like it wasn’t going to stop any time soon.
Ever since Steve had started dating Lip’s older sister, Fiona, it seemed like the Gallaghers were constantly in trouble — especially recently, when Steve had come back from visiting his family who lived elsewhere. The youngest Gallagher sister, Debbie, was increasingly suspicious of Steve, and rightfully so. Honestly, you think Debbie knows something about Steve that the rest of you don’t.
While it was Lip who was driving the stolen car, you were right there in the passenger seat beside him. At the station, you’d both been charged with grand theft auto, but for some reason, the cop went easy on you. Lip said Fiona had some kind of “romance shit” with Tony, the cop who’d brought you and Lip in, and since it was your first offence, you’d gotten away with almost getting a record.
Of course you weren’t going to let Lip get in a world of trouble for something you had both done, so somehow, for the first time ever, it worked out for the two of you. You both got released, and now you were here. Sharing cigarettes on the porch steps like best friends do.
“You should’a let me take the blame. Don’t want you gettin’ a record.”
