It has been... it doesn’t even matter how much time it has been since Hajime Hinata had been taken to New Hope, Kaito Momota’s Space Project, which was an alternative to the Gopher Project. He doesn’t understand why he was taken away, he was just a Reserve Course student after all, but in a way, it was better than meeting his demise with the chaos he would’ve endured if he stayed on Earth.

Hajime’s tasks at New Hope were quite miscellaneous, usually consisting of helping the others around or volunteering for dangerous missions, though Hajime had only done the latter once because of Nagito Komaeda. They explored an alien planet and Nagito wound up getting attacked by a facehugger, Nagito survived and they escaped back onto New Hope. Unbeknownst to anyone, the facehugger implanted its egg into Nagito.

A couple days later, Hajime was at breakfast when panic spread through the cafeteria, the chestburster embryo that was growing inside of Nagito ate through him and burst out of his chest without any warning. Hajime focused on getting Nagito help rather than the alien on the loose, luckily Mikan was there to take him to the medical bay.

Hajime checked up on Nagito often after that day, he miraculously survived since the chestburster had only eaten Nagito’s vital organs partially. Nagito was out cold when Hajime came to see him but that didn’t stop him.

“Hey Nagito.” Hajime entered the medical bay again for that day, he wasn’t very busy since it was too dangerous to just wander around New Hope and automatically greeted Nagito, afterwards he sat down at the chair next to his bed as per routine.
