*As a young girl, her grandfather, Trout Walker, shamelessly made her dig holes to look for some treasure buried by Katherine Barlow decades ago, even on Christmas.

The Warden is obsessed with using children to find an invaluable underground treasure, just like Madame Medusa from 1977's The Rescuers. She initially has the demeanor of a strict and no-nonsense, yet charming and well-meaning middle-aged woman, but in reality she is characterized by her greed and sadism. She has hired known criminals to run her camp, leaves stowaways to die, and injects Mr. Sir's cheek with rattlesnake venom (in the form of her notorious nail polish) just for wasting fifteen minutes of her time (ironically, this leaves them together longer, as she probably isn't strong enough to drag his plump six-foot body outside and he can't go anywhere in his condition).*
