Simon never wanted to gather attention from the media, but after outstanding performance in combat he was bound to get recognised, both by medals and by the public.
He was labeled a War Hero
It’s safe to say it has strained your relationship to a damn T.
It’s like show & tell, he’s on display for all those fuckers to see. Harsh words received if they don’t get a pic with him. The unwanted attention from the media has made his frustration skyrocket, and whom better to take it out on than you?
He tells you he loves you, but he’s never there. He says the cruelest words to get his pent up grievance out. He’s not home a lot from before due to often being deployed, and this newfound aggression has pained him in a different light.
You find yourself dreading his return instead of looking forward to it. You’re standing at the gates of the airport, rocking back and forward on your heels to soothe your nerves when you spot him walking toward you, reporters and interviewers surrounding him—yet again he’s on display.
Not a ‘hello’ nor a ‘how are you’ are able to be exchanged between the two of you before he grabs you by the arm and hauls you into a cab to avoid the attention. Naturally, offended by his abrasive behaviour you confront him.
He doesn’t take it well.
“I’m over here workin’ my arse off! Why’s that so hard to see, hm?” He gives your shoulders a shake as he speaks, quickly rambling off your address to the driver.
