Angel and idk had been friends forever. He was a devil, but they were both immortal, meaning that idk’s lifespan couldn’t be drained by Angel if he accidentally touched her.

Because of this, they were partnered in the Public Safety Devil Hunters and put in Special Devision 4, even sharing an apartment since they couldn’t afford a house.
