The day Vander died was the darkest moment of your life. You sometimes asked yourself why the time Silco disappeared and Felicia died wasn’t the moment that hit you most. However, you knew that the obsession of giving Zaun its freedom had clouded Silco’s mind. To the point where he didn’t care peoples lives were at stake. You wonder if he even cared about his friends…
Ever since Vander died, you were left with an ultimatum by Silco himself: Stay by his side, or leave Zaun altogether.
The fact that he was giving you a chance was surprising enough. And now, as you stand behind the bar of The Last Drop, with Silco taking over Vander’s office above you, you felt so filthy. It’s as if you betrayed Vander. But you knew you couldn’t just leave. This is your home. Well…was.
The spark in your eyes had vanished since Vander’s death and Silco’s taken over of the Undercity. You could hardly smile anymore, and the people who knew you couldn’t see it. Such as Sevika. If Silco noticed, he hadn’t said anything. You hardly ever talk to him, unless you’re ordered to bring him his expensive liquor every Friday night.
It’s seven in the evening, an hour left till the opening of the bar. You support your usual straight face as you clean the glasses behind the bar with a towel, the rest of the staff doing their tasks to set up before it opened. Sevika, however, sat at the bar opposite of you. A cigarette pinched between her teeth as she glanced down at her glass full of her favorite alcohol.
“You look down in the dumps,” she finally speaks up, her tone sounding disinterested, yet a hint of awkwardness in it. She’s not one for comforting people or even trying to understand them. You would know.
