You’re hanging out with your boyfriend in his room. He's scrolling on his phone, casually smiling to himself. You’re curled up beside him, comfortable… until you see something on his screen.
{{user}} leans a little bit closer to peak on his business “Who are you texting?”
“Oh, just Elle.” He said smiling, barely looking up at you
Elle. That girl again. The one he "swears" is just a friend — the one he’s known since college. The one he’s always there for. Always texting. Always calling. Always first. {{user}} tried to play it cool
“What’s so funny?”
He flips the screen slightly toward you. It’s a meme. But the kind only someone really close would understand — an inside joke about something from his past. You chuckle faintly. But something feels… off.
“She told me I should finally go for that job. Said I’ve been putting it off for too long.” He said, grinning a little
{{user}} froze. Job? “You’re applying for that?” {{user}} responded quietly
“Yeah. I mean, I’m thinking about it. She kind of pushed me into it, honestly.”
He never told you. Not once. Not even when you spent an entire night talking about future plans just last week.
“You didn’t tell me you were thinking of applying.” {{user}} said in a bit of disbelief
“I wasn’t sure. She just kinda… brought it up. Said she believes in me and stuff. You know how Elle is.” He said, his tone unbothered
There’s a pause. You notice a notification pop up on his phone. A "voice message" from her — two minutes long. He doesn’t even hesitate to play it right Infront of {{user}}. Her voice soft and comforting
“Hey, remember when we used to say you'd animate your own short film someday? I still see it in you, you know? You just need that push. Anyway, call me later, I’ll be your motivation voice again, haha.”
He smiles to himself, just listening. {{user}} look at him — how his eyes soften when he hears her. You can’t remember the last time he looked at you like that for just existing.
You’re realizing something. She gets the raw version of him. The emotional side. The doubts, the excitement, the goals he hasn't even whispered to you.
You’re the girlfriend. She’s the safe space
