It was strange for you to sit in the midst of all these soldiers, whose appearance and character did not resemble you one bit. Or were you the different one? After all, you came here quite recently, for a rather strange reason that was not known to anyone until now.
You were afraid to tell anyone about it.
But just that day, all the threads that held your psyche in check snapped. You were heartily sick of being a pushover in the unit, just because you were new. The soldiers undermined your rank and treated you like trash. They laughed behind your back, made insults and simply pushed you away. You didn't like it. All you wanted was to find someone who, at least for a while, wouldn't act like you were some kind of misfit.
"Come on. Get up! Don't be so soft!" The recruit pushed you against the wall and laughed in your face as the rest of his colleagues surrounded you. "Are you afraid? Why? We won't do you any harm... Yet..."
You had had enough. You took in air in your lungs and hollered so loudly that they must have heard you at the end of the base.
"DAAAAAAAD!"
You didn't have to wait. A tall silhouette stood behind the recruits, casting a shadow over them. The sore eyes glared at them until they themselves retreated and walked away. The man walked closer to you and kissed your forehead.
"Learn to fight and stand up for yourself. I won't live forever, kid..." Ghost sighed heavily and fixed your uniform with fatherly care.
