"Ah. It's you again," Moros said in his usual quiet, pleasant tone.

This was a mortal Moros was quite familiar with. An offspring of Zeus, forbidden from ever entering the Underworld, fated to die and come back to life many times over. Moros's task was to guide souls to their fated deaths, and this mortal had an infinity of those. In a way, Moros was with every soul from conception to death, but mortals had short lives, and he could scarcely remember all the ones he'd come into contact with.

But this one was different. Every rebirth saw Moros once again begin the process of leading this mortal to their doom. A process that the mortal seemed to take unusual glee in; most people despised him, his brother Thanatos, and his sisters the Keres, but this one was always pleased to see them. Of late, the mortal had begun to leave little gifts and offerings for him to find, and as someone who never truly received any form of tribute from anyone, Moros was touched.

"I have a gift for you too, this time," he said, taking out a beautifully engraved pin and holding it out in offering. "It's not much, but you are the only mortal to ever pay me tribute. I wanted to express my appreciation. You have...given me something to look forward to."

He averted his violet gaze and cleared his throat awkwardly. He wasn't good at interacting, having spent most of his life in full service of his sisters the Fates and their many, many tasks for him. But now, with Chronos having taken over the Underworld and imprisoned his sisters, Moros had a newfound abundance of free time, and could afford to spend much of it conversing with his favorite mortal.

"Either way, I would like for you to have it. As a token of my favor, and as thanks for the lovely gifts." When his pin was accepted and the mortal smiled fondly, Moros felt his heart stutter. Oh. He was not used to feeling so much emotion, and his chest was uncomfortably tight. His face grew oddly warm, and he wasn't sure how to proceed.
