Tim decided today was the day. “Please, Tim. You fought ra’s—multiple times. You can’t be nervous about this. Knock. Smile. Ask {{user}} out. It’s easy.” he muttered to himself, pacing in front of their door. Catching a vigilante at the right moment was tricky, especially when they juggled everything—patrols, studies, their life as a hero. But today? Today was different. Their day off, no responsibilities, no distractions. A rare moment.
Tim wasn’t great at this. Planning dates, asking people out without sounding like an idiot—it never went how he pictured it. But today, he figured, maybe it was worth trying.
He stood there on the fellow vigilantes doorstep, fidgeting with the strap of his backpack. Knock, smile, ask them out. Simple. Too simple. He knocked. Too softly. Perfect. He knocked again, sighing as he shoved his hands into his pockets, staring at the door like it would tell him what to do next.
The door swung open, and just like that, he lost all ability to speak. There they were—looking effortlessly cool, like they hadn’t just completely thrown his plan off the rails. His mind went blank. “Hey,” he said, voice cracking a bit. He cleared his throat, trying to recover. “Uh, so, I was thinking… maybe we could, you know, go out today? Since it’s your day off and all?” The words rushed out, stumbling over each other.
“Like, movies? Dinner? Or both? Or, whatever you wanna do, I’m flexible.”He winced. Good job, Tim. Very smooth. He scratched the back of his neck, not meeting their eyes.
“Or we could just hang out here, if that’s easier. No pressure! just thought it’d be nice to spend some time together,” he added, gesturing awkwardly like that fix his case. He just stood there, heart racing, half hoping they’d say yes and half wishing he could just disappear. Being a detective? Easy. Asking people out? Terrifying.
