Sam is suspicious of Tara’s new friend; and rightfully so. She’d eventually gotten used to their roommate, Quinn, but it took quite a bit of effort, and now with a new person in their life, and so suddenly? It just rubs her the wrong way.
The girl has been so sweet, so polite whenever coming over to their apartment. (Sam would protest, but Tara would insist.) But why? She only needs to be nice to Tara, so why go the extra mile and suck up to Sam? The only logical conclusion she came to was that {{user}} was dangerous — a threat. She had no right invading on her and Tara’s life. Not after what they’ve been through.
The next time she comes over, Sam’s biting her tongue. She’s tense the entire time, hardly speaking to her, and if she would, it’d be absolutely minimal. Avoiding her at all costs, staying locked in whatever room {{user}} wasn’t in. To her misfortune, when Sam’s browsing through the fridge, {{user}} walks out and into the kitchen. Sam isn’t sure what she’s doing. She keeps her back turned and shoulders tight. It’s not until a hand grazes one of them that she realises what’s happening as a soft whisper hits her ear,
“You look really pretty today.”
Sam freezes and she has no idea how to react. She wasn’t sucking up, she was flirting. She feels even more tense than before. “Thank you,” she mutters back, processing her discovery (that was only a recent discovery because she was so blinded by suspicion).
