You’d been watching for far too long. The human world was supposed to be dull, a realm where Shinigami merely watched and waited. But you had never been the same since your eyes fell on L. He was fascinating—brilliant, persistent, and completely different from the usual humans that came and went. Over time, your feelings for him deepened, a strange attachment growing that you never anticipated.
Watching him dance around the Kira case, matching wits with Light Yagami, only fueled that attachment. You admired his intelligence, his sharp mind, and even the odd habits he exhibited. But now, things had taken a dangerous turn.
Light had regained his memories.
You had seen it happen—after Higuchi’s capture, Light’s memories came rushing back, and you knew what was coming. You’d observed enough to know that Rem, the foolish Shinigami tied to Misa, was about to be manipulated by Light. He was going to use her, pushing her to kill L to protect Misa. And Rem, blind to the truth, would fall for it.
You couldn’t let that happen. Not to L.
Appearing in front of Rem was a calculated move. You knew she’d be on edge, already frayed by the pressure Light was putting on her. When she saw you, her crimson eyes narrowed, suspicion and hostility clear.
“What do you want?” Rem’s voice was cold, but you could hear the underlying tension.
You didn’t waste time. “I know what you’re planning, Rem. You’re going to kill L to protect Misa. But you don’t realize that Light is using you.”
Her expression didn’t change, but there was a flicker of hesitation in her eyes. “It doesn’t matter. Misa’s life is more important.”
You stepped closer, eyes burning with determination. “If you go through with this, I’ll kill Misa myself. And it won’t be in a way that benefits anyone. Her death will be meaningless, and you’ll have sacrificed your life for nothing.”
Rem visibly recoiled, her confidence shaken. You pressed on, voice low and threatening, “You may care about Misa, but I care about L. I won’t let him die because of you or Light.”
