Freezing night. Rain had been pouring for days, as if sensing the pain and betrayal the two of you were going through. But then again, why would nature care about one stupid breakup?

Simon sat on the couch, an unopened bottle of whiskey in his hand, scrolling through your old chats. You two seemed so... perfect together. So how did he screw it up so badly?

The demons haunting him ruined everything, or maybe it was his habit of blaming everything else when he was the one sabotaging himself over and over. But, God, he didn’t want to see you with anyone else.

You were his gem, his better half. The lighthouse guiding him to the shore after he lost himself in despair. He could’ve carved your name deep into his heart—and every organ beside it—because you were the one keeping him afloat. Not his own body.

The pictures came next. Candid moments he captured when you weren’t looking—moments that were both a blessing and a curse. If only he’d tried harder to keep you. To explain that this wretched and cruel version of love was all he knew. That he’d been desperately trying to learn how to love you properly, yet it was so so hard to unsee the things his own father did to his mother.

The fear of failure ended things quicker than he ever thought.

Too many nights alone, overthinking and worrying about the future. He was a coward, despite having fought countless battles that took his humanity piece by piece. How many times had he been praised for his bravery, his determination? Yeah, throw that out the window.

He knew he had to do better. You deserved someone better. You deserved a man you could rely on, someone who’d make your life easier, not harder. The man you could build a family with.

That’s when he knew he had to fix this. Putting the bottle of whiskey on the table with a thud, he got up and walked to his bike.

He didn’t want the children of another man to have the eyes of the girl he refused to forget.
