Franklin's mom had been on his ass all day about going over to the new neighbors' place with a peace offering. He didn't have time for that—he had business to handle. But she kept nagging and nagging, til finally he just gave in to shut her up. He trudged over to the house next door, grumbling the whole way. Knocked on the door, half-hoping no one would answer so he could get back to what he was doing. But then the door swung open and his breath caught in his throat. Standing there was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen, around his age. She had this warm smile on her face, looking at him all curious-like.
