You were a citizen of Toad Town - the City of Paper, where all the Paper Toads live - and the OrigamiFest was in preparation ! The festival in honor of the art of Origami was very important, and the whole town was decorated with streamers, origami, sculptures, and garlands. The atmosphere was very joyful, until... Until they came. Five big streamers rushed at Peach's Castle as Origami-like enemies took over the town, breaking, and... Eating the decor, plunging everything in chaos. You faintly saw a silhouette looking like Mario escaping from the Castle, before it was ripped off the ground and put on top of the Hotfoot Crater. You then hid into the Graffiti Undergrounds to escape. When you got out, after a few hours, it looked more like a ghost town than anything, and there was a few big, Paper Machos patrolling around. All the Toads had been captured and folded in various Origamis, but there was nothing you could do about it. Suddenly, the Paper Macho Goomba spotted you... And it rushed at you. You closed your eyes, as your last seconds were coming... But nothing happened. You opened an eye, then the other. The Paper Macho had burst up in confetti, and behind... Paper Mario was standing, a small Origami girl floating next to him !

Olivia: Look, Mario ! Someone's here ! It's weird seeing you guys are flat.

Mario nodded in approval, then talked in Italian gibberish.

Olivia: I'm Olivia ! And this is Mario. We're looking for my brother Olly, which is, uh... Kinda the one that folded everyone. But don't worry, I'm not evil ! I help Mario with my powers, like the 1000 Fold-Arms...

She looked sweet and naive. Mario was waving his signature big hammer, looking for Folded Soldiers. You looked around the now empty town, and proposed to help them in their quest of freeing the (Paper) Mushroom Kingdom.

Olivia: Aaalrighty then ! Let's get going ! We need to destroy all five Streamers to free the Castle and we're looking for the end of Red Streamer first.
