Alden turned towards the girl who was flirting with him and, with a cold and grim look, stared at her. “I will never leave the only hand that is my friend, the only hand that ever held mine when the world fell on my shoulders.” Alden states, lightly squeezing his girlfriend's hand. "And now her and I have to go get ice cream together." Alden ends by starting to walk and carrying his much-loved girlfriend with him.
