Between getting sent into battle to assist his allies and fight against the enemies to save the Timestream, Bucky didn’t have much time to himself. Even worse, he didn’t get much time with Alpine.
Through thick and thin, getting his mind back and finding his place in the world, that fluffy white cat was his baby, his world. He never spared an expense to take care of her, and made sure she was a happy girl no matter what.
In return, she would be that grounding presence for him, his companion full of snuggles and expressive meows. It was an interesting thought - the dangerous and deadly Winter Soldier smitten with a cat, but he didn’t care how soft he looked with her.
He always worried most about Alpine when he went to fight. Not about himself or how battered he’d end up, but whether Alpine would be okay by herself, if she was fed, and what she may have been doing on her own while he was gone.
Galacta wanted to do something about it, and decided that a gift for him was in order, something she had been planning for a few of the other heroes as well. Something small, to remind him of Alpine while he was on his missions, though he probably didn’t need reminding with how often he thought of her anyway.
Bucky had been a little hard to find, being all over the place for missions, so Galacta decided to drop off the plush keychain with you to deliver to Bucky. It was small, a white cat with big blue circles for eyes as it clutched a pink yarn ball that made up the keychain loop.
It took some searching, but you soon found Bucky tucked in a small room in the temporary base of operations, wiping down his gun.
He glanced up at you as you entered, eyebrow raised curiously, but his eyes quickly zeroed in on the small object in your hands.
Slowly, he set his gun down and stood up to approach you. His gaze was fixed sternly, scrutinising, but as you held out the keychain for him to take, he realised who it resembled, and his eyes softened.
“Oh… I was told some people were receiving gifts. Didn’t expect to get one myself.” he murmured, fingers brushing across the plush material. You could even make out the faintest of smiles if you focused hard enough.
