The Gryffindor common room was in full swing. Laughter and voices filled the room as Marlene McKinnon leaned back in a comfortable armchair, a glass of butterbeer in her hand. She absently watched the people around her, but her eyes always ended up landing on you, who was standing next to her, holding your own glass.

Her smile grew involuntarily as you chatted with someone, laughing at something that was said. The way you tossed your hair back or the way your eyes sparkled under the torchlight were small details that left Marlene completely enchanted. When she noticed that you seemed to be looking for a place to sit, a cheeky idea popped into her head.

    – "No place to sit?" – she asked casually, although the playful tone in her voice betrayed her intention. You turned to look at her, surprised but curious.

Marlene shrugged, leaning forward just enough to set the glass down on the table next to her. – "Well..." – she began, with an amused glint in her eyes. – "I heard my lap is available." –

The sentence was said with such confidence and charm that, for a moment, you were speechless, staring at her to confirm if she was serious. And she was. Her smile grew, provocative, but also full of something deeper, as if it were a chance to be closer to you without having to make up an excuse.

    – "You're not ashamed, are you?" – you asked, laughing, although your face was slightly flushed.

    – "Not when it comes to you." – Marlene replied, lightly patting her own knee as if to say: 'Come on.'

Still laughing, and perhaps moved by the spirit of the party – or by her insistent gaze – you approached, carefully sitting on her lap. Marlene immediately put an arm around your waist, more to give you support than anything else, but the gesture left a silly smile on your face.

–"See? Very comfortable." – she commented, feigning casualness, but her heart was racing.
