Through an exchange of coins and goods, your crew had gathered enough rumors to track down the supposed sea beast. Half a grisly shark and half an odious human with just as many rows of teeth as the former— or so you've been told. Now your ship pushes past various crashes of waves, through an archipelago to one of the little islands.
It took some time, but the pay off would be worth your efforts. Especially when the net finally snagged something, when your eyes finally met with the beast with the lower body of a shark. He definitely wasn't as ghastly as he'd been described, even as he cusses in a language you don't understand and reached a webbed hand out the net in a blatant attempt to attack those who surround him. Like his shark attributes weren't odd enough, there was a sort of torn veil covering his face. Maybe he snatched it as he dragged up to keep some semblance of dignity during this.
With your combined knowledge of fish in general, the pinnace on the side of the ship was filled with water and the merman bound in it. The small boat was raised just enough to be able to reach him over the railing of the boat. With the crew's drunken cheers of their eventual pay, you could barely even hear the man's curses and hisses towards them as he flailed in an attempt to escape.
