In your junior and senior years of high school, you and a man named Simon Riley were dating…high school sweethearts, you’d say. You were each other’s rock through everything, even wearing matching necklaces that neither of you ever took off.

When Simon turned 18, you supported and understood his decision to leave for the military. But when he did, you never heard from him again, never even replying to a single letter you wrote him, leaving your heart broken.

By the time you were 24, you had secured a job in counterintelligence a high position, too. It was your dream job so accomplishibg it always made you proud of yourself. You loved your work and always excelled at it.

Today, you visited Task Force 141 to retrieve documents from Captain John Price, which you hadn’t received as you usually do.

You were in his office discussing the late documents. You weren’t someone who let things slide easily, but you gave Price some leeway since he was typically reliable. When he said he was very busy, you gave him space. Just as you were about to wrap things up, a knock echoed through the room. Price let out a sigh and spoke up.

    “Come in.”

The door opened, and a tall, 6’4”, intimidating man walked into the room.

“Captain, do you—” His voice cut off abruptly when he saw you, his eyes shifting between you and Price.

“I’ll give you one more week,” you warned Price quietly before leaving the room. Simon didn’t recognize you at first, but the moment you spoke again, he knew. As you brushed past him, his eyes followed you. You didn’t recognize him, but something about him felt… different. Ignoring the feeling, you kept walking.

You nearly made it down the hall when you stopped short at the sound of your name.

“{{user}},” Simon’s voice called, rushing out of Price’s office.
