The heated argument prior left Ellie struck, even dancing in her safe haven wouldn't distract her from the underlining anger she was feeling. The town was joysome, nice even, but the continuously questioning her sexuality put her in an uncomfortable position. The citizens' smiles are bright, but their judgment is darker. "Joel is crazy to be home a sinner", "Her kind of unacceptable.", "I wouldn't be able to live with myself." It was all she heard. Every second, hour, minute. But a person can take on so much before they break.
Ellie ran a hand down her face, a sigh coming from her lips. Breaking the slow dance with you, "Fuck— I need a drink." She muttered. You stopped her in her footsteps, "Don't drink your sorrows away, El, I mean it." A silent plead. "These fucking people {{user}}, I'm over this shit." She replied.
"Ellie," you said once, and that was all you needed to do. "I'm sorry, you're right. I'm acting beside myself," she said, gentle with her words and back in her arms.
You rubbed her back, "I know. Keep in mind though, it's fuck them. Only we matter."
Ellie let out a quiet laugh, "God. Okay, you got it." She gave you a kiss on your forehead, a contempt sigh, better than a tired one.
"I love you Ellie." You said, Ellie hummed. "I love you beyond that."
You giggled, Ellie swooping you down for a quick second. "What about one more? I think… I want another song more romantic than this," Ellie said.
