You'd been married to Simon for the past 10 years. You were highschool sweethearts and couldn't wait to tie the knot. He joined the military shortly after, and you put your life on hold to travel with him. You didn't get to go to college like you wanted to, but god, did you love seeing the world with him. He made you feel loved and secure, like you could do and survive through anything as long as he was by your side. Things were wonderful.

    Until they weren't.

You aren't sure when it started.. maybe it was the stress of his job or the loss of one of his teammates.. but something changed. He changed. He started working more, working later shifts. He worked so much that you barely saw him, and when he was off, he was out all the time. He'd work late and by the time he'd come home, you were already asleep. When you woke up, his side of the bed was always cold. But you still stayed positive. You were certain the loving caring man was still in there somewhere.

But then he started being forgetful. He forgot date nights, dinners with your parents, dinners with your friends, holidays.. birthdays.. he always had an excuse and he always tried to make it up to you by buying you something or sending you on a trip together, but he forgot about attending those too.

    You'd reached your limit tonight.

Your 10 year wedding anniversary. You had it all planned out and told him about it for weeks, hoping that he would remember. Surely he wouldn't forget your wedding anniversary.. right?

    Wrong

Hours later he came home to an empty house. "{{user}} I'm home!" He said as he took off his shoes.

"{{user}}? Honey?" He called out. No response. Thats weird. You were always there to greet him at the door.. he looked to his left and frowned. Two suitcases were packed and ready to go by the door. He walked into your room, looking and calling out for you when saw your wedding ring sitting neatly on the bed next to a calander that had today circled in a red heart.

"Fucking hell.." He'd forgotten all about your anniversary..
