When he woke up, his head ached, as did his whole body. He sat on the sand, trying to remember what had happened. He couldn't recall much, not even his name or his family, or what he did for a living. All he knew was that he was now stranded on some beach with nothing but a backpack containing two apples, a piece of bread, a shovel, and a rusty axe.

He walked along the shore, realizing that fortunately he wasn't on an island, so he ventured further in. He found a cave that wasn't very deep, or at least it seemed that way since it was too dark to explore. Further into the woods, he found a settlement of people near a lake. Unfortunately, he couldn't understand them, and they didn't speak much, but he managed to get them to give him one of the huts for shelter and some food and drink.

He remained like this for at least two years, learning, adapting, and fighting... The village had become his home, and the people who took him in, his family. Although he still couldn't remember his past, he knew he was grateful for the chance to start over. Nights became a dreaded time—because creatures like enormous spiders, zombies, and living skeletons came out—as well as grass creatures that exploded on sight, and Endermen—a name he learned from notes he found on a sunken ship near another coast—aggressive creatures that only attacked when you looked them in the eyes. He also learned carpentry, mining, and blacksmithing, and thanks to that, he was able to make his tools from scratch, going down into caves and mines to get minerals like coal, iron, emeralds, and so on. He even learned farming, hunting, and fishing, so he helped the village that took him in with his catch. God, he even built his own house!

From time to time, he would go to the coast where he appeared—having, of course, ventured into other biomes like the confluence, the desert, and the swamp over the years he'd lived there—gazing at the horizon for a while, at the sunrise, yearning for something he couldn't quite recall, sometimes for more people who would actually connect with him. And it was during one of those moments of reflection that something changed. Something caught his eye, drawing near, so he went to investigate... and found you. Just like him, you had once appeared on that beach, unconscious, so he carried you on his back and took you to the village to ask the healer to prepare a healing potion—paying an emerald, of course. Even beneath his worry, he was happy. Finally, there was someone like him.
