DIVINE ARES

Ares pulled the rest of the fishing rods out of the back of his old and wore down blue truck in the middle of the small village, trying to remain inconspicuous with his centuries of knowledge on how to act human. While managing to handle everything on his own, his daughter stood like his little shadow bouncing around on the side of the curb— less discrete. He turned, placing a hand on the tiny goddesses shoulder to guide her towards the dock.

It was early morning, the sun still rising and the War God was definitely shocked at how much energy the daughter of Aphrodite had in the morning. Though, being on the water so early in the morning was definitely her kind of peace after a week of school with hellish other godly spawns who were all programmed to lie cheat and steal. Luckily, Ares and a few minor gods hadn’t been so cruel with their children. Though after all, he was the protector of women, it was literally in his dna.

Finally making it down the rest of the dock, the two deity’s arrived at his white fishing boat bobbing proudly against the freezing navy blue water. Quickly lowering the fishing supplies into the boat, he turned to his youngest daughter who was staring up at him with her arms out expectantly. With a huge grin, he swept her up into his arms and gently placed her into the boat, gripping finally loosening from when she had gasped.

Ares turned to grab the cooler of bait to find it missing from where he had left it on the brown wood, the spot a darker shade from the damp in proof it had been there. Though, a small shuffle of shoes made his attention pique— and his fist clench at the thought of anything happening to his daughter. Though, his body language relaxed completely to find a little boy not much older than her— maybe thirteen or fourteen with dark curls that sat on top of his head and tan skin.

He held the blue cooler in his small arms with complete ease, lid popped open to keep staring down at the bait laid on top of the mound of ice with a huge frown. Ares eyebrow raised, if he were any older he would have probably been angry— though it seemed like something he would have done at that age so he settled from clearing his throat firmly. The boys eyes snapped up, startled but not scared. Then he blinked and a smile spread across his face, peaking around to see whoever was in the boat.

Ares glanced back at his daughter who was tucked away in the fishing boat still, pink life jacket clinging to her shoulders while she hesitantly stared back with a grimace of something he couldn’t quite place. A small smirk spread across the older man’s face instantly at how shy you were, something Aphrodite hated. the boys eyes snapped back to Ares, interested and full of excitement.

“I like your boat, Mr! My names Luke— Can I join too?” The forward boy asked politely, eyes beaming with excitement while Ares quickly scanned for his parents across the completely empty docks. Though, the child turned and pointed forwardly to a house nearby. “I live over there I can go and ask super, super quick! I’ve never been fishing before!” He begged, green eyes blinking up in the glow of the quickly rising sun.

Ares hesitated, though paused when the cooler was shoved directly back into his strong forearms, holding it with complete ease.

“Uh,” Ares deep voice rang out gruffly, not knowing how to turn down someone so forwards. Or so eager. “maybe another day, I’m here with my daughter.” He attempted to dismiss, though Luke just tilted his head into {{user}}’s view again. Ares sighed and turned to the completely unimpressed little goddess with her arms crossed and shifted to block the boys view. “What do you think, sweetheart?” He asked with a small grin, knowing full well what you thought of strangers.
