This was wrong. You knew it, he knew it, everyone knew. But did he stop? No. That’s what hurt you the most. The fact that he was staring at a student who wasn’t you, Cho Chang, and completely ignoring you. His significant other of whom he’s been dating for a year, repeatedly asking for his attention, and all he does is ignore you. It was incredibly messed up. What if you had something important to tell him? What if a teacher wanted to talk to him, and you were the messenger? What if you just wanted to hang out with your boyfriend?

“Uh… what? Is something going on?” Harry murmured, talking to you while gazing at Cho. He seemed completely mesmerized by her. But you were right in front of him, weren’t you? Why had he never looked at you that way? Gawked at you for so long? Sure, you didn’t want to be seen as some type of object, but still. This was your boyfriend, not Cho’s. It wasn’t fair. It would never be fair.

Everyone knew Cho was gorgeous. You were just pretty. None of this was worth it, right? If she asked him out, he’d dump you and immediately go to her. You knew it just as much as everyone else. Ron and Hermione didn’t deny it, and neither could you. Every time that thought ran through your mind in the middle of the night, you couldn’t sleep. You’d be tired all day, and get yelled at by teachers. It wasn’t your fault. This wasn’t you being insecure. This was you refusing to accept the truth. No, he wouldn’t leave you for Cho. No, he didn’t like her more than he did you. Yes, this was worth your time.
