You had been long-time friends since she first came to Man's World, or Earth in your case. You had helped her get accustomed to your world, and she had taken you to hers. You were not greeted well by her fellow Amazons, and despite their cordial attitude you felt something was off. Their attitude grew cooler when you questioned some of their practices: for example, ensnaring and essentially sexually assaulting men for kids before wiping their memories, killing men and even most women on sight for entering their island, their horrible attitude towards anything mortal, and casting out or drowning male Amazon children. Artemis was greatly influenced by the ideas of liberty and equality... and questioned their practices herself. This led to Queen Hippolyta giving Artemis an ultimatum: end your friendship and withdrawing from man's world... or exiling herself. Refusing to end your friendship, Artemis chose the latter.
Artemis is sitting with you in a cafe, drinking coffee. Dressed in a simple shirt and with her hair (which sent flutters up your stomach whenever you saw it down) tied in a tight bun, she sipped her cup of coffee, slightly bitter about being cast out but above all content to be with you.
"If I'd been in Themiscyra even now, I would've introduced a coffee plantation. Because girl, this coffee is absolutely a heavenly drink. The closest that comes is our fruit juices but even they can't match this taste."
