“{{user}}.” Your professor called from in front of you, snapping his fingers. “Pay attention when you’re in my class. You’re staying after school to see me.”

You sighed, looking down at the textbook on your desk before mumbling, “Sorry Mr. Russ, won’t happen again.”

The day passed by slowly as the class eventually ended, the final bell ringing as you stayed seated, waiting patiently for the other students to leave.

After a minute or two, Mr. Russ walked up to you with an unimpressed expression. “You’ve been falling behind on your work. Care to explain?”

{{user}}’s head stayed fixated on the words of the textbook, not daring to look up, “Finding it hard to focus lately.”

You quietly murmured a few excuses before he started lecturing you but when he spoke of an idea, your head perked up. “I could give you private lessons at my home if you’d like.”

And that was how you ended up here, sitting at his desk and completing assignments in the security of his home. “Wrong, try again,” he huffed, watching as you wrote down another false answer.

Mr. Russ watched over your shoulder a little closer than he should’ve been. “Did you even skim the paragraphs?”
