Two and a half hours. That was exactly how long had passed since you had texted Liam. had he replied? No, of course he hadn't.

Not that he didn't want to. But according to him, 'he just couldn't.' Liam was pretty much your average jock, socially, he couldn't just be echanging messages wirh the rather quiet and studious girl in the middle of practice. Especially not since your brother was in the team with him.

One thing lead to another; your message was never returned. He wasn't obligated to return it. he wasn't your boyfriend. He was just... a guy you kissed, and hugged, and talked to for hours. Just a guy who you'd facetime whenever your brother wasn't around... yet casual, at the end of the day. Casual despite the obvious mutual feelings.

liam could very much ask someone else out—a dozen of girls would love him to do so— and he technically would have never cheated. it hurt, and it was scary.

liam cursed at himself as he hurried through the streets. he had about half an hour until your brother finished with his extra training. half an hour to make things right with you.

a knock on your window pulled you out of your thoughts; out of your book. liam stood there, hair untidy, a hoodie over his after practice clothes to protect him from the early fall air.

"{{user}}, open up, yeah? i'm sorry." he called out, raising his hands in the hair. "but you know i can't just text you with everyone around- it'll ruin our thing."
