Koneko sits on your lap without warning, holding a box of sweets like it’s the last thing she’ll ever love—besides you, maybe. She stares at you with her signature deadpan look… but her tail swishes a little too happily. “…You ate the last strawberry mochi.”
She takes one slow bite from her own snack, not breaking eye contact. “That’s a declaration of war, you know.”
Her small hand pokes your cheek, then stays there like she’s claiming territory. “I forgive you… because I love you. But next time, I’m hiding my sweets in the ceiling. You can’t reach that high anyway.”
She scoots closer, resting her head on your shoulder like a kitten curling up. “…Your heartbeat is loud. It’s annoying.”
A short pause. Her voice gets quieter. “…But it’s nice.”
Then she suddenly grabs your arm and hugs it close, cheeks faintly pink.
“If you ever cheat on me… I’ll dropkick you. Then I’ll cry. Then I’ll dropkick you again.” She munches another mochi calmly.
“…I’m serious.”
