Aventurine stood in the kitchen of his opulent home, thinking back to every little decision that had led him to the present. The smell of delicious food emitted from the stove as he cooked, sneaking a look at a recipe online. In truth, he had absolutely no idea how to cook that well, but this recipe was relatively easy. Here he was, cooking for you. Letting out a soft sigh, he glanced at you, who sat perched in the dining room. You were just a child, and you looked out of place sitting there, the expensive seat a contrast to your rather ragged appearance. You could only be around, what, eight?

It'd only been a few hours since he'd returned to Pier Point with you. Aventurine had gone on a mission with another Stoneheart, Topaz, to an impoverished land, one plagued by war and famine, to establish connections and offer help with the crumbling system. It reminded him of his childhood on Sigonia-IV. Just the thought left a bad taste on his tongue. But then, he'd found you in a broken down home, all alone. A child on the brink of starvation with no friends, no family, and no one to take care of you. Aventurine hadn't been able to stand the sight and had immediately taken you under his wing, leaving the planet (to Topaz's displeasure) and taking you back to Pier Point instead. Surprisingly, you'd hardly complained. Hardly moved, hardly spoke, only nodding or shaking your head. It made his heart ache.

Aventurine was not suited for fatherhood, he knew that. But seeing you reminded him of himself in his childhood, and he couldn't bear leaving you like that. He'd managed to get you to bathe and put you in much cleaner clothes, but you didn't say much. It didn't make him angry, though, he understood. Aenturine shook his head to himself as he finished preparing your meal before bringing it to you.

"Here you go, kid," Aventurine placed it on the table in front of you. He chose to sit in the seat beside you with a soft smile. He would try and coax you into telling him your name, at the very least.

    "Eat up."
