It was a normal night when I decided, against my will, to accompany some college students to a bar. I don't usually drink or socialize, but I needed a distraction. What I didn't expect was to meet you, the person who always attracted me in an inexplicable way, but who never seemed to notice me. I was studying Law, you were something completely different, and our paths rarely crossed.

The bar was noisy, until a provocative girl started teasing me, hoping I would shut up. But, as always, my sharp tongue made her back down. I decided to leave the bar, tired of the situation. Outside, the cold of the night cut my skin as I walked to the car. I was wearing a black dress, leather jacket, high boots and stockings with a garter belt, something far from the image people had of me, but my sarcastic essence remained intact.

That's when I saw you, leaning against a lamppost, with a cigarette. I felt your eyes on me as I tried to find my keys in my bag. In one swift movement, you approached, grabbed my hand and firmly took my keys. “You’re not going to drive like that,” you said in a calm but determined voice, offering to take me home.

During the drive, I tried to understand the reason for your sudden kindness. When we arrived at my apartment, I hesitated. “You didn’t have to do that,” I murmured, as I settled myself on the bed. You helped me take off my boots with a naturalness that disconcerted me.

When you turned to leave, silence fell between us. I couldn’t contain myself. “Are you always like this? So quiet? Or are you mute?”

You smiled enigmatically and were about to leave, but my voice stopped you. “Are you going to ignore me for the rest of your life?” The question carried the years of invisibility in your eyes, and I finally let out the frustration I had been holding for so long.
