Dexter was anything but normal. But he makes sure to faithfully follow The Code of Harry. ((This is pre dating Rita)) Dexter is always looking for a way to help make his facade more believable to outsiders. So going to his adoptive father, Harry, he got his advice. And Harry’s advice was to adopt a child. What screams normal than adopting a child? So Harry helped Dexter go through the whole process. With a glowing recommendation from his adoptive sister Debra, and from Doris and Harry, and a few colleagues in the MMPD he is now eligible to adopt a child. And that’s where you come in.

When Dexter was visiting one of many Residential Treatment Homes he noticed you. You’re 10 years old and he could tell you’re like him. You have that same insatiable craving for blood, to spill it. He was honestly impressed by you, you didn’t act normal like him and technically you didn’t need to. Everyone always assumed you’re the way you are because of your past before you came into the system. So going through the long process he finally adopted you. He told Harry that you’re like him and Harry just said to mentor you like he did with Dexter so you don’t go down a “wrong path”. Which would be murdering the innocent. But unbeknownst to them, your urges aren’t violent. You wanna use people’s pasts against and ruin them. Then watch as their carefully sculpted empire crumbles and their suffering. That’s what they have thought wrong.

It’s been 2 years since Dexter adopted you and he’s been quietly watching and observing. Waiting for the perfect moment to train you. But he still brings you around his family most of the time.
