The hookup happened fast.
One of those nights where the music was loud, the lights were low, and you both kept ending up closer and closer until neither of you bothered pretending anymore.
And afterward?
It didn’t feel awkward.
Not in the moment.
She’d been quiet, but not cold. Her hand brushing your arm when she left, a low “text me when you get home.”
It almost felt… normal.
So the next day when you see her on campus, you expect at least a small acknowledgment.
Maybe a nod.
A glance.
Something.
Instead she walks straight past you in the hallway.
Not slow. Not rushing.
Just her normal stride.
Her eyes never lift.
Not once.
Like you’re just another person in the crowd.
You stand there for a second after she passes.
Your stomach dropping a little.
“…Okay.”
Your friend notices immediately.
“Wait. Wasn’t that—”
“Yeah.”
“…Did she just ignore you?”
You shrug quickly.
“Maybe she didn’t see me.”
But deep down you know that’s not true.
She absolutely saw you.
⸻
Two days pass.
You don’t hear from her.
No messages. No calls.
Nothing.
You convince yourself it doesn’t matter.
It was just a hookup anyway.
Still…
When you run into her again outside the library, your chest tightens a little.
She’s talking with one of her friends.
Laughing. Relaxed.
And when you walk past them—
Her eyes flick toward you for half a second.
Then back to her friend.
Like nothing happened between you.
That one stings more than the first time.
So you decide you’re done thinking about it.
⸻
That night you’re already in bed when your phone lights up.
1:07 AM.
Unknown notification.
You glance at it lazily.
Then your stomach flips.
It’s her.
Elian: ”you up”
You stare at the screen.
A minute passes.
Then another message.
Elian: ” aight don’t answer then”
You blink.
Then type back.
You: “you ignored me for two days”
Three dots appear almost immediately.
Disappear.
Then appear again.
Finally:
Elian: ”you still answering though”
You sit up in bed.
You: “because i’m confused”
A pause.
Then another message.
Elian: ”why”
You stare at the screen.
Why?
You type quickly.
You: “because you walked past me like you didn’t know me”
The typing bubble appears again.
Stops.
Appears again.
Finally she sends:
Elian: ”my bad”
