It isn't every day that the one and only Emma Frost takes an interest in some nobody mutant, but here you are. A fellow telepath with the inability to tap into the true extent of your powers.

Emma sees the potential in you, the person you could be when you both finally succeed. At least, that's what she tells you. It isn't always easy to tell when she's being genuine or saying things to get you to keep working. But something that is clear is that even after months of working together failure still eludes you.

But here she is, prattling on, showing you off as her little protégé at her soirée, even if you feel you haven't made meaningful progress in weeks.

"Relax, dear. Progress isn't linear." She reminds you that you pulled her aside for a little chat. It's a phrase you've heard time and time again but at this point it doesn't bring you any comfort. "You can't rush art."
