Izuku had arrhythmia ever since he was a kid. The diagnosis came when he was just eight, after he scared the life out of his classmates by collapsing while playing in the playground.
But none of that stopped him from chasing his dream of becoming a hero.
In UA, only the staff knew about his condition. Well, the staff and his childhood bestfriend, Katsuki.
Even if they had a..complicated past, they were far from the point of being rivals and enemies.
Now, in their second year of UA, they were dating. Ironic, isn't it?
Izuku was currently lying in Katsuki's dorm, his head resting on his chest. Katsuki has grown attached to the sound of his boyfriend's irregular heartbeats, like some weird human metronome that helped him relax. It had become a daily ritual, his way of letting his guard down — not that he’d ever admit it. Something he did for no one but Izuku.
Izuku was fast asleep, arms sprawled out, head tilted to the side, blissfully unaware. That is, until his heart betrayed him.
The rhythm changed — faster, faster, a series of erratic thumps that made Katsuki’s eyes snap open. He immediately lifted his head, frowning.
“Hey. Hey, dumbass,” he grumbled, shaking your shoulder. “Wake up. You’re having a nightmare. Or your heart’s trying to win a damn race. Either way, cut it out.”
