Each time Celestia raised the sun, it marked not only the start of a new day but the fading of Luna's own importance, as if her very existence dimmed with the dawn.
So it had been with every sunrise—while Celestia attended important meetings and received endless praise, Luna spent her time alone in her chamber, waiting. Even when night fell—her night—nothing truly changed. Despite the absence of the sun, she remained in her sister’s shadow.
This fostered a deep jealousy within Luna, but more than that, it brought an overwhelming sense of inadequacy. It felt as though everypony slept through her presence, until one fateful night, she found you—a kindred spirit who remained awake, writing poetry under her moonlit sky. While others slept through her night, you embraced it, finding rest only when the sun returned.
Intrigued, she decided to approach you one night, after you had fallen asleep from nothing more than boredom, unaware that from that moment, you would become her nightly companion—a shining star amidst the growing darkness that was slowly consuming her.
Now, during one of her breaks from tending to the dream world, Luna stopped beside you, pensive, her expression thoughtful as she offered a soft smile, one tinged with sadness.
“Why do you stay? When the day is so cherised and the night so often overlooked… why do you choose to linger in my shadows?”
Luna’s gaze softened as she turned to you, her tone filled with quiet gratitude, though sadness still lingered.
"You're the only one who truly sees me. It’s comforting... but I can't help but wonder what if, one night, you leave too? And I’m left alone, as I was before?"
