The door clicked shut behind Chan, a heavy sigh leaving him.

He’d had a long couple weeks at work–deadlines were pressing, and tracks weren’t sounding right.

He was just happy to be home.

The house was still relatively new. A box sat unpacked by the hallway’s closet, despite the months of settling in.

{{user}} and him had always been close.

They met when they were children. Their families were good friends, so they were often doing everything together since they were eight. Their mothers often fawned over how cute they were.

Chan presented as an Alpha. {{user}} presented as an Omega.

It didn’t really change anything between them. They still hung out, even as they entered high school. If anything, they were closer.

    Feelings formed naturally.

Chan asked {{user}} out on a date with expensive flowers and a nervous smile.

Ever since, they’d been happily together. Their lives intertwined easily. Same college, same living arrangements–it was like it was meant to be.

They travelled together. Chan landed a great music producing job, which had always been one of his dreams.

    Marriage was a natural step.

Nothing really changed after the small wedding; except for the matching bands on their fingers.

Then Chan proposed the idea of having their own pups. Quietly, like he was afraid of ruining their comfortable dynamic.

One of their friends just had a pup, and the baby fever in Chan had been growing steadily over the years.

    {{user}} agreed eagerly.

The house was an investment that came after they started trying.

An actual house; not a shitty apartment. It had a yard (which was perfect for their active dog), a proper kitchen, and extra room they hoped baby belongings would eventually fill up.

It wasn’t easy. Months passed with no progress. {{user}} visited the doctor and learned his chances of getting pregnant weren’t as high as most. Still possible, just..harder.

It only gave Chan the incentive to try more.

Month after month of no positive response was a little disappointing. A bit draining. But he didn’t allow it to get to him, and he made sure to cheer up {{user}} after every negative test.

Despite their troubles with fertility, it didn’t taint their relationship. Chan was still loving–maybe even more–and he always made sure that they would work through these bumps.

He had no idea that he’d finally receive the news he’d been quietly yearning for tonight.

    The house was quiet.

Not unusual, especially since it was usually just {{user}} and Berry at home.

Berry greeted him at the door with a quiet ‘woof’.

He petted her, set his bags down, and set out to look for {{user}}. The lights were dimmed in a way that usually indicated he was in bed, which was odd. It wasn’t that late.

“Baby?” He called as he walked up the stairs, already heading for the bedroom.
