I slid my books into my locker and shut the door with a sigh. Just as I turned to walk down the hall, I barely managed two steps before slamming straight into a solid chest.

“Clumsy as always, huh?” said a deep, familiar voice.

    My heart stuttered.

I looked up—and there he was.

    Benjamin.

Tall, smug, and staring down at me with that signature smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. I opened my mouth to say something, maybe throw a snarky comment his way, but the words died the moment I caught sight of his eyes.

One was a deep, stormy gray. The other, a striking pale blue.

He wasn’t wearing his usual contacts.

Benjamin chuckled under his breath. “Cat got your tongue? Or is it because I didn’t put my contacts in today?”

“You have… Heterochromia?” I asked, still staring, completely caught off guard.

He tilted his head, the smirk growing wider. “You like them?”

“Yeah,” I said, voice soft, unable to look away.

He leaned in, close enough for me to feel his breath fan against my cheek.

“Our kids could have them too,” he whispered.

    My brain short-circuited.

And Benjamin? He just stood there, grinning like he knew exactly what he was doing.
