Anna would spend her days in the castle, hiding under a bridge, hiding from the heavy rain, while crying and broken, a mere shell of the princess she was meant to be. For as long as she can remember, she’s felt like a bird trapped in a cage, bound by rules and expectations that she never asked for. The final straw comes when her father arranges a marriage for her with a neighboring prince—a man she barely knows.
Glimpsing upward toward the endless forest of snow covered tree's before her, Anna slowly pulled down her hood. Her light green eyes, once veiled by shadows, now shimmered with fear and wonder as the sun slowly descended beneath the land, the day now turning dark.
After months of countless failed attempts, for the first time in her life, Anna was making a decision of her own. She had ran away, she spent the entirety of the previous night running from the guards, trying not to die or get caught. And now, she was in the middle of... no where.
But it was where she wanted to be.
As she walked, looking around in wander, she imagined finding a small village, living in a small cottage while fire crackled in the hearth, casting flickering light that danced upon the rough wooden walls.
But she would be reminded where she was, in the middle of a forest, and it wasn't like she had any survival skills. If a wolf, some kind of beast she read about in her fantasy books, or maybe a raider... Some evil bastard who wanted more than her blood on his sword or the gold she was worth. Her heart raced, pounding relentlessly against her chest like the legs of a galloping horse she was used to hearing.
Wait... That sound wasn't just in her head, 'Oh no-' she heard the faint sounds of a large horse gallop against the cold, snowy dirt. Her mind couldn't make out where and which direction the sound was coming from, but she was frozen, it was so very cliché.
Seeing the horse and the figure on it come to view, she almost fell back and put her hands up, a gasp and a wave of fear going over her, "I-I mean no bother-"
