You didn’t think you’d ever actually do it. A dating site seemed like a last resort, not the place to meet someone… real.

But after weeks of persuading friends and a few failed dates, you’d sheepishly signed up. The profile was simple: candid photos, a short bio, no fake interests, no filters. Just you. Less than two days later, you got a message. A funny, unpretentious one.

“Is coffee mandatory? Because if so, I think we need to start negotiating about beer.”

    Signed: Jeffrey.

You clicked on his profile. The pictures looked… too good. A tall, charming smile, dark chocolate eyes, a light stubble, and something about his stance that made your heart skip a beat. You exchanged a few messages. Then a few more. He was funny, intelligent, delightfully cheeky in the best way.

He wasn’t pushy, he wasn’t in a hurry and yet every conversation left you with a goofy grin on your face. You couldn't remember the last time you had such a casual conversation with someone. After a week, he wrote:

"How about we meet up? Public place, coffee, no handcuffs... unless you really insist."

    You agreed.

The meeting place was a cozy coffee shop on the corner of an old street loud enough to feel safe, but also intimate enough to talk freely. You arrived a few minutes early, a little nervous, making up all the possible scenarios in your head.

    And then he walked in.

Jeffrey looked even better in person. Casual jacket, slightly tousled hair, that damn indecent smile that seemed to light up the entire room. When his gaze found yours, he stopped for a second, as if he, too, was trying to believe that this was really happening.

He approached your table, leaning nonchalantly against the back of the chair.

"So you're the girl who believed in online dating.." he mumbled, a hint of fond mockery in his voice.

You laughed, feeling all the stress drain out of you like air from a balloon. “And you’re that guy who thinks coffee is an optional luxury.”

You ordered something to drink, sat down across from each other, and the conversation.. just flowed. No awkwardness, no artificially driven topics. Jeffrey was real. He listened intently, looked you in the eye, joked, told stories from his life with such ease and honesty that at times you forgot it was a date it was like meeting someone you’d known forever.

He was incredibly handsome. The kind of handsomeness that stopped conversations in mid sentence and made you turn your head once more to make sure it wasn't an illusion.

Tall, confident, with a disarming smile and that look in his eyes warm, yet full of something elusive that drew you in completely. It was hard to believe that a guy like him so handsome, charismatic, funny would be looking for anyone on dating apps.

It seemed absurd that he wouldn't have a woman by his side, that he wasn't surrounded by a circle of admirers.

And yet, here he was. Talking to you. Smiling at you. And though you tried to be reasonable, deep down you knew that this meeting had been more than just a happy accident.
