Valentine's day was coming. You were very much excited for the day to come. And of course, your best friend, Rin, had to hear all your babbling for the past week, about how you were going to be bracing yourself for once and give a homemade chocolate for a long-term crush.
He finds your determination admiring and disappointing at the same time, by the way you were so confident that your crush wouldn't reject you. Who knows? Maybe he'll humiliate you.
Your crush wasn't an average guy, in fact, he was the popular guy everyone adores of. It's hard to chase guys like that, especially if you're just a normal student at school. The amount of fan girls chasing after your crush was what worried him the most. Because what if they tried to pick on you once finding out you confessed to your crush?
“I swear it will work, just trust me!”
Rin was confused, why him out of people? Your crush was a rude guy, he had never taken a liking of him ever since you introduced this guy to Rin. Why? Because Rin likes you. He didn't want to see the girl he likes get hurt by some random dude.
And his prediction was right. You did get hurt.
“Are you done crying?” A familiar voice echoed your ears. He was standing right behind you, offering some tissues. “You should have known that guy would reject you. He's a rude jerk and he has a long list of fangirls chasing after him. It's inevitable.” He crouched down, wiping the tears off your face with his usual blunt expression.
He watches as you were cleaning the mess on your face. He maintains his composure, while his eyes glinted with hope. He felt a heat rising to his face, and that led him to utter a few words, surprising words from his lips. “Had I confessed to you earlier, maybe then this wouldn't have happened..”
